About Chartpaper

A classroom activity board for teachers and students

Chartpaper is a free web app for running activities with a class. A board is a sheet of chart paper on a screen: you and your students put sticky notes, drawings, stamps, shapes and tables on it together, and everyone sees the same surface at the same time.

It is deliberately small. It is not an infinite whiteboard and it is not a course platform — it is the paper-on-the-wall part of a lesson, moved onto a projector and a set of student devices.

What teachers use it for

• Do-nows, warm-ups and bell-ringers
• Brainstorms and group brainstorming rounds
• Exit tickets and quick checks for understanding
• Quick polls, where the class answers and the results appear on the board
• Sorting, matching and category activities
• Review games and trivia rounds
• Making random groups, and calling on students fairly

How students join

The teacher shares a link or a short room code. Students open it, type a first name, and they are on the board. Students do not make accounts, and there is nothing to install. It runs in a normal web browser on a Chromebook, laptop, tablet or phone.

Privacy

Chartpaper is built to need as little about a student as possible. There are no student accounts and no student email addresses — a student types whatever first name or nickname the teacher asks them to use. Boards are private to the people you send them to: there is no public gallery, no search, no profiles and no feed. Share links expire automatically after about 30 days.

For school IT

Chartpaper is a static web app served over HTTPS on port 443. If it is blocked on your network, the domains to allow are:

• chartpaper.io and www.chartpaper.io — the app itself
• *.supabase.co — saved boards and live rooms

It should be categorized as Education. There is no chat between strangers, no public content directory, and no student login. If you need anything else to approve it, or you'd like it categorized correctly in your filter, email glenmeinsch@gmail.com and you'll get a real answer from the person who builds it.

Who makes it
